Uncle Scott

I know I've said it many times, but really, every kid needs an uncle like Uncle Scott. Their relationship is just something else. Steve and I are taking a parenting class at church and although they offer childcare his parents are coming over to watch the kids once a week. Last night his dad had a meeting so Scott came with his mom. We got home right before bed and Cooper wanted Scott to read him his devotional, it was cute!!! At our class we have round table discussions with ice breaker type of questions. One of them was "what is your favorite memory with your kids". I talked about the day we brought Cameron home from the hospital but I wanted to share another with you guys, since it involves Uncle Scott.

Last year when my sister passed away there was a weekend when I spent a lot of time at the hospital. We knew what the outcome was going to be but it was also important that I be there as much as I could. This was also the time when Cameron was really struggling with reflux and ear issues and spent more time of his days fussy than being happy. I got the initial call in the middle of the night on a Friday, left for the hospital and got back just after lunch on Saturday. Steve was struggling with the kids that morning, his parents were sick, and my mom was obviously at the hospital so we were stuck without any help. Scott offered to come over that evening so Steve and I could both go back to the hospital, we would just need to take Cameron with us. He was only 4 months old so it wasn't a big deal to have him there. This would be the first time Scott did any kind of baby sitting. We got back home that evening and I was just physically and emotionally exhausted. I had been up since 3:30 that morning, emotions and stress were just at all time high. We walked in the door and the first thing I see is Cooper and Scott with a receiving blanket tucked into the back of their shirts, wearing it like a cape, and pretending to fly around the room. It's something that took away all stress in that moment. I can still see that vision in my head and I hope it never leaves. To top it off, Cooper wasn't 100% potty trained yet, he had pooped in his pants that night. What a way to break in a baby sitter.

Didn't really mean to make this post so long but I have one more thing. They are doing a communication theme at school and encouraging parents and family members to write and mail letters in to the school. Cooper got his letter from Scott today. This his letter:

Good morning buddy. I want to see if you can guess who I am.
*You like to ride in my car in your car seat
*We listen to Party Rock when you ride with me
*When you come over to my house you're allowed to jump on my bed
*When we get together you like to jump on me

Who am I?
Uncle Scott is the answer!
I just wanted to say hi and hope your having a good day at school. I love you Buddy!

My boys sure are blessed!
