Just another weekend at the Lee house

Despite being a holiday weekend, we managed to keep thing low key and do pretty much nothing all weekend. It was nice. As a matter of fact, of the four weekends between Thanksgiving & Christmas, we only have plans one of those weekends. Here is just a glimpse of what we did with ourselves.

Friday night we built a tent. Don't make fun- I know it's not the best, but it's the best we could do.

This part was my favorite, we used it as one of our walls. Since it had been put up to make room for new birthday toys, Cooper ended up playing with this instead of playing in the tent.

Saturday morning we got out some supplies and went to work on a paper plate Santa, or as Cooper calls him, a paper plate Ho Ho.

Once again he was more interested in eating crayons.

He did like playing with cotton balls.

So, Cooper didn't really help much, but he did like the finished product.

Yup, that was what we did this weekend. And I realize I didn't take any pictures of Thanksgiving. We had lunch with my parents and dinner with Steve's. Food was great!

Just what I needed!

Last night I started getting a sore throat, didn't get any sleep and woke up with the sore throat and a headache. By one o'clock today I was dragging. My dear sweet, loving, beautiful child decides to take a three hour nap while me and my couch become best friends for about 2 1/2 hours.

The best part, I fell asleep and the Colts were down by 7 and Houston was able to score, I wake up and the Colts are up by 8 and just intercepted the ball. Awesome!!!

Thanks to Karen I was able to get two things accomplished this weekend.

1. Thursday morning I noticed that Target had a digital camera as a door buster deal. My mom is in desperate need of one of these, up until last year she was using her Polaroid. I put in a call to Karen, who always braves Black Friday with her sister and as luck would have it, they planned on starting their morning out at Target. Later that afternoon she stopped by with camera in hand!

2. Last year I mentioned to Steve that I would like to start a tradition of having matching Christmas pajamas to wear Christmas Eve night and Christmas morning to open our gifts in. When I started looking around this year I was in the hunt for matching colors, nothing too cheesy. Steve said the cheesier the better. So cheesy it is. We tried them on last night and Karen came over to take our picture. Here is our official Lee family Christmas photo.

Fun House Birthday Celebration

I almost forgot I had these on my camera. Jess and her family met us at the Fun House the night of Cooper's birthday for some play time. Thanks for joining us guys, we had a great time.

Decorating

We did some Christmas decorating Sunday evening and got our tree up. Cooper helped us some, here is one ornament he put on tree. He has been doing great by not playing with or trying to take ornaments off. There is one that he plays with and it makes music, we call it "his ornament". It's nice to not put a gate up. He did find one more ornament that Steve put on the back of the tree. I can't remember if it was the Reid's or Steve's brother who gave us this one, but Cooper keeps calling it "daddy". If he only knew!

What do I have to do....

Tomorrow is our initial meeting with First Steps. We go over the program and fill out paperwork and hopefully get an evaluation set up. They need two things from us; proof of income (3 consecutive pay stubs) and a copy of insurance card. I got out the pay stubs last night and laid them on the kitchen table underneath Steve's car keys. I told him that we HAVE to get this copied tomorrow and if he forgets he is going back out when he gets off work to copy them. Why should I have to do it when he works somewhere with a copier. Makes sense, right?

I got up this morning after he had left for work and guess what I found on the kitchen table? You guessed, the pay stubs. If I was a mean person I would just leave them there and make him do it tonight, but luckily my mom works close and I can go there and make copies. And he wonders why I tell him things 2 or 3 times.

2 Year Wellness Check

We had Cooper's two year wellness check yesterday morning. I went into this appointment thinking I'm a pro at this and it should be easy, it's not like he has to get shots. This was all until we first got called back for weight and height. The boy went BA-NA-NAS! I've have never seen such. First he wouldn't stand on the scale so we had to use the baby scale. I stripped him down, tried to lay him down and that is when he lost it. He screaming and clinging to me, had is arms and legs wrapped around me so tight that I wasn't even holding on. The assistant finally just did the best she could, not for sure how accurate it all was. It came up 23 lb 13 oz for weight ; 5th %, 33 1/2 inches for height; 15th % and the 65th % for head.

Next up was a finger prick for a CBC and to check for lead. To my amazement he did very well with this, he wasn't bleeding a lot so she really had to squeeze his finger to get the blood out, he was crying but wasn't fighting her.

Finally, we met with the doctor and it was smooth sailing from then on out. He didn't cry when she looked in his ears and sat like a good little boy on my lap the whole time. I expressed some of my concerns regarding his speech so she did put in a referral to First Steps. My biggest concern is not having another well check for a year and the possibility of him falling further behind and having a hard time catching up. I got the call from First Steps yesterday afternoon and we are having our initial meeting next week. I will keep you posted once we have evaluation. Most people tell me I'm crazy, he's just a shy little boy, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Either he qualifies and we get back on track, or he doesn't qualify and he's perfectly normal. Of course I think he is perfect anyway :)

Happy Birthday Cooper!

My little buddy turned two today. It still is shocking to me that it has been two years. He is such a wonderful blessing to our family. And what a blessed little boy he is, I can only pray he grows up loving Jesus and knowing how much he is loved. I want to provide him with fun memories that will last a lifetime, even if it is something as simple as a cinnamon roll with a candle on his birthday. I love this picture, it's like he knows it is his special day. And this picture is awesome, "really mom, you are going to follow up a cinnamon roll with a banana?"

Fisher Price Little People

My son has an obsession with Fisher Price Little People. He plays this people & animals all the time. They are lined up shelves, tables, chairs and even the window sill.

It all started last Christmas when he got Noah's Ark and The Farm. Then came the 50th Anniversary edition

and many other people and animals sold separately. Those are Eddie & Micheal, his favorites. And yes we do have two Michael's.

Of course we don't discriminate, we also have Mickey Mouse and Sesame Street characters

along with a shopping cart full of others.

So it's only fitting that Cooper gets his own Nativity Scene. Steve & I joked around last night that we wonder how long before Michael or Eddie end up in the Nativity or baby Jesus pops up in some random place in our house, like the time I found a zebra by my alarm clock. Either way it's fun and a good way to teach Cooper about the birth of Jesus on his own level.

Aunt Marilyn, for best birthday present, but as I am writing this I remember it could also be Tina so I apologize if I am wrong. Whoever it was, THANK YOU! This is a CD of children's Bible songs. Cooper loves it. It had made car rides so much more enjoyable. So far his favorites are; Jesus Loves Me, The B-I-B-L-E Song, and Joshua fought the battle of Jericho. His faces lights up and gives the biggest grin when they come on. I love watching my little guy learn new things, he is such a sweet little boy.

It's Party Time!

What a night! Tonight we celebrated Cooper's birthday, I can't believe he is almost two years old. It doesn't seem right. Like last year we kept it small, close family and my best friend Sharon and her daughter Allie. Once Cooper gets older we will do a big party but he had just as much fun with those that were there tonight. Especially with Uncle Scott who kept feeding him cake and showing him how to wipe it on Mamaw's face. That is where he learns all the bad habits.

Our guests included... my mom and Steve's Aunt Linda, Papaw (Steve's dad)

Mamaw, Uncle Scott and cousin Tina (who is being blocked by Cooper),

Aunt Marilyn and cousin Ricky,

and Sharon and Allie. Look behind Sharon and you can see we were watching videos from when Cooper was a baby. Poor guy, that was from when he was about 3 1/2 months old and had a fever of 103. Long story, but that was a week I never want to live over.

I want to say a huge thank you to everyone tonight! You guys are so generous and show so much love to Cooper that a simple thank you will never be enough. We have so many new toys, books, coloring books....I don't even know where to begin. I let Scott take the pictures, he took about 60, don't worry I narrowed them down.

It was so much fun watching him this year, he caught on pretty quick. We got a Pirate Ship from Sharon & Allie.

Next up were some books and more Little People from Tina.

He got some coloring books and CD's from Aunt Marilyn.

Mamaw & Papaw contributed to his college fun,

along with a George puzzle.

Aunt Linda found some Cooper's Apple Butter... I have a feeling Daddy will get more enjoyment of this.

Mamaw & Papaw also got a guitar. I found so many random pictures of him playing with the box, he kept going back to it each time he opened a gift. He makes it even more special that he learned to say guitar this week.
Uncle Scott got some new clothes and just what we needed more balls,

and a bowling set.

My mom got him Mickey's Cho Cho Express, he played with this a lot tonight. If anyone has seen this episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, this train lays down the track just like in the show.

She also got him a new puzzle. He's always been good at the beginner puzzles, I thought this would be a challenge for him, he did pretty good with it tonightHe got an Aqua Doodle from Ricky, I think I might be more excited about this one,

and a new Elmo as well.
