I was bored so I started reading through some old blogs and came across one from Karen on Thanksgiving weekend. She had a picture of Cooper from the day we brought him home from the hospital. It made me sad just looking at and seeing how small he was and much he has grown. It's hard to believe that was almost 2 1/2 months ago. Although I have to admit, I loved the 8 1/2 hours I slept last night.

Heather and Craig had their baby boy this week and last night Craig came over to get the bassinet. and as much as I loved everything about the first few days, I do not miss that look of pure exhaustion he had on his face. It makes me realize how far we have come in the past 10 weeks. Granted I don't have much experience, but anyone having their first baby or planning on having a baby, the key is a routine. We do the same thing every night. Go to Cooper's room, get in the rocking chair with a bottle and play they Disney Lullaby CD. He knows that means bedtime. Even when he was about 2 weeks old, he knew that was bedtime and even if he only slept 3 hours, he typically went right back to bed. Here we are 10 weeks later and getting 8 or more hours of sleep. It just seems like yesterday I was praying for 5!

We have a busy weekend coming up, Sharon and Karen are coming over for lunch today. I'm looking forward to that. I haven't seen Sharon since the week I came home from the hospital. It will be good to catch up. Later this evening I'm going to Tracey's house. All the wives are getting together with the kids while the husbands go out. There are going to be 8 kids there. Although my job is the easiest, I'm the only with a child who isn't mobile yet. The plan is to do this once a month and alternate months when the wives get the kids and when the husbands get the kids. Something tells me that isn't going to work out.

Tomorrow I'm going to see my friend Mary who I used to work with at Mercer. She had a new baby girl on New Years Eve. It's her third child, all girls, what a trooper. Another girl from Mercer, Jennifer, is also joining us. It should be fun.
Well I think I hear my baby waking up, Have a great weekend.

Update

For those wanting to know, Cooper did great with his shots. He did scream for a minute or two, but that was it. He wasn't fussy at all when we got home. Actually he slept all evening and all night. He then slept almost all day yesterday. Last night he did have a low fever, but we gave him more Tylenol and it took care of it. I was a little worried since he slept so much that he wouldn't sleep well last night, but he did pretty good. This morning the fever was all gone.

He weighs 11 lbs and 9 oz now, which is the 50th percentile and his length is 22 inches, which is the 20 percentile. Looks like he is going to take after his mommy!

Baby Dedication

Yesterday was baby dedication at church and Cooper did great. Luckily it was at the beginning of the service so we didn't have to keep in there long, he tends to get cranky and bored easily. He didn't cry and was wide awake and alert. We were proud. Of course about 20 minutes later my number popped up on the screen to come and get him in the nursery. They actually had him calmed down by the time I got there, I think he was just hungry. If he doesn't eat on time, the boy gets mad. I've never seen anything like it. I can't complain though, because once 8:30 hits, we don't hear from him again until about 3 or 4 in the morning. He gets all he needs during the day so at night it's all about sleep. That's another thing, he sleeps so good during the night that I can't complain too much either that he doesn't seem to take good naps during the day. Although he is sleeping right now, which is a good thing because at 2:30 it's off to the doctor's office for his 2 month check up and shots. I'm a little nervous but Steve and I have gotten great advice. We have heard from about 5 or 6 different people to give him some Tylenol before the shots and then again every 4 hours afterwards for about 24 hours. We also heard to massage the injection site so that it doesn't knot up and become sore. I will write later this week and see if it worked. Wish us luck!

Sleep and Smiles

I have to start out with the fact that Cooper fell asleep last night around 10:00 and didn't wake up to eat until around 4:00 am! That is 6 whole hours of sleep! Of course I woke up at 1:30 thinking I heard him, so I made his bottle. Well we both must have fallen back asleep because before I knew it, it was 3:20. I then went to check on him, still breathing, just fast asleep. Of course I am so used to being up that I never fully went back to sleep until he woke up at 4. I know it's probably a one night incident, but it does give me hope for in 3 1/2 week I go back to work.

Now on to smiles. He has been smiling for a while now, but we finally got him to smile long enough for some pictures. It's so much fun watching his personality grow. The mornings are the best, we can lay him down on the floor and he will smile and "talk" to us for about 20 minutes. It's great!

Happy New Year

New Years Day I tried to think of the last time that I did not stay awake to watch the ball drop, I can't remember. Well, this year I was in bed by 10:30. Cooper was in bed and I couldn't miss out on a few extra hours of sleep had I stayed up, plus I was exhausted. I did have a good night, Karen and Jonathan came over and watched the IU bowl game with us, even though IU lost, it was still fun. I also tried to think of fun things that happened this year, here is the list, I'm trying to go in order the best I can.

The Colts won the Super Bowl! That was a great night, although I believe the AFC Championship game was more fun to watch, especially the second half.

Steve and I spent a wonderful 7 days in Walt Disney World in early February! It was great! The weather was perfect and it was nice to get away when the weather here was below freezing.

March was an exciting month, we found out I was pregnant. At times it seems like I was pregnant forever, other times, it seems like yesterday we found out.

Not much happened in April, I did get my first ultrasound, but I still can't point out what we were looking at.

In May we bought a new car for myself. I had my previous car for 9 years and I needed to upgrade to a four door. I can't imagine trying to get the car seat in and out of a 2 door, it's hard enough as it is.

In June we had my 20 week ultrasound. I thought for sure it was a girl, but I was wrong! Once she said boy, it all seemed perfect. Even though at first I was hoping for a girl, I can't imagine anything different. I think I even want another boy.

In July we painted the nursery. I know it seems early, but I like to have things done early. Plus once August got here, Steve had to work a couple of weekends, then IU football started which Steve went to a few games, so our weekends were short lived.

In August I applied for a new job within my company and by the the end of the month had accepted the position. I was very unhappy where I was currently, so this was great. Plus is was something totally different than what I was used to. I started in September, it was been great so far.

In September and October I had some baby showers. those can be exhausting. It wore me out. Either that or it was because I was 7 months pregnant.

We all know what November was- Cooper was born! The rest of the month and year has pretty much been a blur. I couldn't have asked for anything better.

I don't really make New Years Resolutions, but I do want to set some goals, I will think of those and post some later.
Have a great week!
