A little bit of this, a little bit of that

It seems as if I have fallen off the blogging wagon again.  When I say there isn't anything going on, I really mean there isn't anything going on.  So this post may be a bit all over this place.

Let's start with Cameron, he doesn't get much air time of his own on here.  His new favorite activity is to sit on the counter.  He literally asks to sit up here all day long.  He's my little helper when it comes to making lunch, so it can come in handy.

I have no idea where he learned to stick his hand into the Nutella jar :) It's really not his hand, it's an animal cracker.  Right after I took this picture he grabbed the spoon and stating eating it that way.

Steve & Cooper were our running errands on Monday so it was just Cameron at bath time.  We usually do them both at the same time.  It was the most relaxing bath ever.  He knows he's cute and that's his problem.   Today he asked to get in his bed them he started screaming for me, I walked in there and he just looked at me and said "Hi momma".  He has me right where he wants me.

They don't have a lot of matching clothes, if we do have them it's the ones that Scott has bought.  I thought they were too cute in their matching vests on Sunday.

Greater Clark is holding what is called Premier Week this week.  We toured Jonathan Jennings on Tuesday.  Not much has changed in the 23 years since I left 5th grade.  We toured the cafeteria, gym, library, and the three kindergarten classrooms.  I have asked quite a few people if I should request one and it's about 50/50 for 2 of the teachers.  I almost feel bad for the other.  Once I think I have my mind made up and convinced to ask for the other one.  The two I'm thinking of are both in classrooms I had in the third grade.  Cooper let one of the teachers know that 2+2 is 4 and that he could count to 300.  I think he will love school.  It will make it easier on me knowing he likes it.

Cooper wore this to school today.  Love it!  He has one teacher that is an IU fan and one that is a UK fan.  They obviously both had very different reactions.  Speaking of IU, they are in action as I type. Go Hoosiers!!!

I went shopping with Sharon on Saturday.  I had some Christmas money and of course I couldn't find a thing.  My summer wardrobe needs more work than my winter does anyway, so I'm putting myself on a spending freeze and saving my money.
I have been wanting an entry way table ever since we moved in and just haven't found one I love.  I also want to paint the kitchen blue, Steve isn't on board yet, hoping to change that.   Once we figure out what color to paint or kitchen I will look for a table, but if I did chose blue and added some blue accents, how cute would this be.

I'm trying to think if anything exciting is going on in our lives and I just can't come up with anything.  This is random, for the past 3 years I have given Steve's parents a desk calendar from Shutterfly.  I try to match up the previous years pictures for that month.  January and February are always the hardest to find good/fun pictures.  I have one more day, maybe I'll throw a random party tomorrow.

A Day Off

Alicia and I met up this morning with the kids at Krispy Kreme.  Nothing starts a holiday off better than getting the kids hyped up on sugar.

Afterwards I thought it would nice if the boys and I took Steve & his co-workers some donuts.  Is this not the cutest thing ever!

They love the climb the horse outside the building.

Before we left Krispy Kreme Cooper & Jake were trying to figure out a way to still hang out and play.  Alicia said we could come over, I hate to impose last minute but Cooper seriously begged me to go play.  So impose we did.  We were there all of about 10 minutes before Jake started passing out cookies and juice.  I guess donuts weren't enough.

Nora cracks me up.  There are 4 boys there, complete chaos all around, and it doesn't phase one single bit.  I barely even noticed she was there.  She did stat to warm up to me, it may be because I opened up a candy cane for her.  That was after Jake brought in a bucket of candy canes for everyone.  If you are keeping track that is donuts, juice, cookies, and candy canes.

Alicia offered to let us stay for lunch but Cooper had a follow-up ENT appointment and I thought it might be best to take them home to let them re-group before we go to our appointment right at nap time.  Luckily we got in and out quickly.

So we all know Cooper is scared of dogs, Alicia was kind enough put Reece up in her cage as not to scare Cooper.  Before we left he got brave and wanted to see and pet Reece.  I love it that he is getting braver.

I love Cameron's face in this one.

While eating lunch Cooper asked if we could go to the pet store to get a dog.  I think we need a few more brave moments with other dogs first buddy.

I love it that we could take a break from our routine and just have a fun day.  Thanks for letting us crash your place Alica.

What's on your Nightstand?

Since I obviously don't have anything else going on and I can't come up with an original idea of my own, I'm gonna steal Gretchen's idea and blog about my nightstand.  Please, don't get too excited.

This beauty right here is my nightstand,

Let's start with the baby monitor.  This thing is my security blanket.  My kids rarely wake up in the middle of the night but I can't seem to get ride of it.  We used it for Cooper right up until the night we brought Cameron home from the hospital.  Cameron will occasionally call out for me but it's always as he is half asleep and I almost never need to go get him.  It's like I need the hum of it to get me asleep.

The lamp is really just decorative, never use it.  The water  bottle has been there for a couple of weeks.  I had a dry throat one night and kept it by my bed  in case I woke up coughing.  Then there is the phone charger.  We don't have a land line so I keep my phone by the on vibrate all night.  I'm a pretty light sleeper so if someone calls it will wake me.  It's also my alarm clock.

You may recall from my trip to Nashville when we met Katherine from Grass Stains.  She brought this for Tracey, Gretchen, and myself.  I love it!

I also have some reading materials; my yearly planner, Once a Day Bible, and Mockingjay, the third book in the Hunger Games series.

I love my Once a Day Bible!  I tried to do a reading plan on my phone but I need the hard copy, I'm old school.  I also like having something to check off each day.  At the end of each day there is also a devotional to reflect on so you aren't just reading for the sake of getting it done.

Next to my bed I have a bag with my Community Bible Study materials in it.

With all the reading materials I'm sure you can guess why my blogging has taken a backseat.  Thank you to Gretchen for the topic, you may have set off a new Blog-Off.

Busy Week

Our first week back to a routine is coming to an end and I am ready.

Monday started off with school for Cooper while Cameron & I went to Jazzercise.  Gotta love those mornings when I only have to take one with me.  After school they both had a hair cut.  Ahsly, who does my hair, also cuts theirs.  She does hair out of her home in the basement, she also has 5 kids so the basement is filled with toys.  They love getting their hair cut.

Tuesday started off with dentist appointments.  Both did terrific!  I had to lay down in the dentist chair with Cameron on my lap, but they managed to clean his teeth with no problem and no tears.  Baby steps.  Cooper was off by himself in the room next door with the other hygienist just chattin' it up.  I have no idea what happened to my shy child.  He had a great visit too, which also included x-rays.  We could see his 6 yr molars under there, the dentist said to start expecting some minor pain soon.  Later that afternoon we went back to speech since the break.   I am always at a loss on what to do with Cameron.  This day we should hung out in the car and listened to Disney music while he pointed out the big trucks making deliveries.  His t's come out as f's, think about it.

Wednesday was Cooper's eye appointment.  He has exotropia.  It's the outward turning of the eye, while focusing on distant objects.  The doctor had a hard time producing it  since most of her tests are up close and tracking things.  She did catch it a few times but nothing like I see on a daily basis.  The only correction is surgery.  We got back in 3 months to have her check it again, right now she would just do 1 muscle in 1 eye.  It's a minor surgery, outpatient and last about 30 minutes.  In the meantime we are patching his good eye for about 2 hours a day.  He has taken this really well and doesn't seem to mind.   We are making sure we do it when we wont be leaving the house.  He's still a cutie, eyepatch and all.

Thursday we went back to Community Bible Study and last night we had small group again.  I didn't realize how much I missed these things after being off for over a month.  It's just the combination of fellowship and adult contact.  I need it.
Next week looks to be just our usual routine of activities. I think routines and Cooper loves school so it's good for us to get back on schedule.

Off to a good start

So far, 2013 is off to a pretty decent start.  I've been to Jazzercise 4 out of the past 5 days.  I'm loving it and can already feel my body craving that exercise again.  I'm hoping to go at least 3 days a week.  I have to take the boys with me and childcare is extra, I come close to doubling my monthly fee once you add it all up.

The boys have spent a lot of time like this.  Dressed up and ready to play.

Cameron's costume cracks.me.up.

I have given myself some resolutions to clean out some closets this month.  I've gotten a start.  I love feeling productive.

Saturday night we went to Corydon to eat at Culver's.  Steve & Scott eat at the one in Columbus after every football/basketball game.  We had nothing else going on so why not.  Cooper loves for me to take our picture then I check it out and he doesn't smile at all.

Cameron is hilarious while he eats.  They got an ice cream with their kids meals, if you let Cameron sit long enough he will finish his treat and go back to eating the rest of his regular food.

A guy that works with Steve is starting his own home health company.  Steve did an evaluation for him last Sunday and did some treatment today and will next week as well.   He needed to drop off some equipment to Steve last night, we were still out so he put it on our front porch.  Imagine my delight when I found this gem on our front porch.

Steve likes to give me a hard time about what I take pictures of and blog.  So he had to be cute and try and take a picture of me coming out of the bathroom.

You have to love what I put up with.

It's all back to reality tomorrow when Cooper goes back to school.  We hit the ground running this week with school, speech, Community Bible Study, both boys have haircuts and dentist appointments. and Cooper has his eye appointment.  Looks like I will be getting out of my pajamas this week.

I'm baaaaaack!!!

Today, I went to my first Jazzercise class in over a year and a half.  I got an email New Years Day for a special they were having; no joining fee and no monthly payment till February.  My plan was to start back up when Cooper started kindergarten.  I would be saving the money I pay for preschool and have more time to get there since I don't drop Cooper off until 8:55 and class is at 9:15.  I no intention of doing this until I got the email, it was almost like God was giving me a sign saying "it's time".

I feel like I've been in a bad mood since I gave it up.  I never really wanted quit, we were moving and needed to cut expenses and there was a babysitter there that always said negative things about Cameron.  I just gave up.  That babysitter is still there, but Cameron is better now so if he does cry then it's her fault, not his.  Today he hugged the babysitter, a different one,  as we were leaving so he's all good.

I was a bit nervous driving up.  I felt like the girl who left home without saying goodbye only to show up a few years later.  I was welcomed back with open arms, and Jazzercise, well it's like riding a bike.  The instructor did some older songs so I remembered some of the routines.  I felt like I never missed a beat.  Now I just have to let Angie give me a class manager position back so I can get free Jazzercise.

So happy to be back!!!
