Happy Halloween!

Feels weird to be blogging about trick or treating on Halloween morning, but let's just go with it.  I was okay with the change, I mean it's better safe than sorry right?  Especially with the treat of high winds.  Let me also say, it's so not about free candy for us.  My kids were more excited about my in-laws and my mom coming over.  We didn't even go to half our neighborhood, they were tired of walking and wanted to hand out candy and see costumes.  They didn't even end up eating any of their candy last night.  Even with half our neighborhood they both got tons of candy.

One of our first houses was to see "baby" Aiden.  He's such a doll and my kids make him laugh all the time.  It's too cute.

Not many pictures here, too buys helping the kids.  I can't decided which I like better of theses two.

So I'll just make it into one.
Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin Carving Time

Monday night was pumpkin carving time.  The boys were all about it.

Then it came time to touch the insides, not a fan.

Oh, but the shrieking was too cute.

They quickly lost interest so Steve and I took over.  I think it's cute.

This isn't pumpkin related but I wanted to remember it.  Steve made a human Candyland.

It's a good thing I married someone with the creativity gene or my kids wouldn't stand a chance.

Before and After

It dawned on me that I never blogged about Cooper's bedroom makeover.  We had plans all year to get him some new furniture, but it wasn't until late summer did I realize I can't have my kindergartner going to school sleeping in a toddler bed.  I searched around and found some furniture we liked then I started looking for bedding.  I quickly realized I couldn't find anything that would match the current orange colors of his walls.  This is the best I could find.  Nice bright orange.

We still don't have bedding, partially because I haven't found something I really like and because he sleeps with a large Star Wars fleece blanket so he really doesn't need it yet.  The walls are a bluish gray.  I really like the color and it's something we may not have to ever change.
View from the door.  I can't tell you how many times I have hit my leg on the footboard.  I've gotten 2 nasty bruises.
View from the night stand.   I love having a shelf now.  There was a scratch on the side of the shelf, the side that is against the wall.  It wasn't a big deal and they offered to replace it, but we opted to get the $75 credit.  It's not like it's visible.
View looking towards the door.  We would like to get some type of decals for the walls, maybe Star Wars.  Something that we don't have to nail any holes for and can easily be taken down.  That bed has come in handy for us too.  Cooper was staying with Scott one night and Cameron woke up in the middle of the night not feeling well so I had to sleep with him in Cooper's bed.  Much better than some rocking chair.

Cooper isn't the only one experiencing changes.  Steve converted Cameron's bed this weekend.  We are now crib free.
I don't know how long this bed will last, we also have Cooper's old toddler bed so we may just bring that up and get rid of the crib completely. I can't see Cameron in such a small bed until he's almost 6.
He's slept in it 2 nights now and has been warned not to get out, so far so good.

Fall Party

Call me corny, but I love being a room parent and planning the school parties.  To me it's fun and I can honestly say I enjoy it.
Cooper had his fall party this afternoon.  School parties a little different than Wee Ones because we only have an hour.  Makes it a bit easier.

We started off with two games.  We just happen to have the principal's daughter in Cooper's calls, so her and Ms. Harbin got to be wrapped up as mummies in toilet paper.  We also recruited two other moms to help out.  The kids loved it.

Cooper got to be in Ms.Harbin's line.

We will probably never see Mrs. Bach like this again.

After the games we had a coloring sheet for them and snacks then two more games.  I failed with my pictures on this.  I was helping with a game so I didn't get a chance to take any.

Cooper and Luke after the party.  I have no idea why he does this thing with his eyes.  We haven't had a chance to go through that treat bag, but we would be a-ok if we skipped trick or treat all together.

Let the Halloween festivities begin.

Bounce Time and a Scandal

Cameron is looking a little better and looking it too.  Right is day of fall and left is the morning after.   Hasn't slowed him down at all considering he is still jumping off couches and beds.

You are going to have to pull me out of bed kicking and screaming on Monday.  I could get used to this no schedule thing we've got going on.  Between school and CBS kicking itself back into high gear I just want to curl up on the couch with my kids and never leave.

We met the Reid's at the bounce time today.  Everyone was so busy running around that I only managed to get two pictures.  One of Cam ready to take a nap and one of Coop with hair so sweaty it looks like he jumped in a pool of water.

Yeah, they had fun!

A couple weeks ago Tracey let me borrow seasons 1 and 2 of Scandal.  I never thought I would be interested but Tracey knows me well.  As a matter of fact we became friends because of our mutual love of the same television shows.  I am seriously obsessed.  I've gotten through almost 30 episodes in less than 3 weeks.  I don't know what I will do when I have to wait a week between episode like the rest of the world.  Thanks T for making me addict.

A "Fall" Break Trip to the Zoo

We don't have a lot going on this week so I figured today would be perfect to go to the zoo.  The weather was great and the zoo was pretty much empty, so yes it was a perfect day.

At least it started off perfect.  We were meeting our neighbor Stefanie and her son Aiden, while waiting for them the boys were looking at the big zoo map, which happens to have hay bales in front of it right now for the Halloween decorations.  I didn't really see what happened next but I heard it.  Cameron was laying face down on the concrete.  A complete face plant. After visiting First Aid and 20 minutes of screaming, he was cleaned up and seemed better, fat lip yes, but better.  They gave everyone free carousel rides to help him feel better.

Everything was decorated for the Halloween party and Cooper had to get his picture in almost everything they had out.  I told him to give me his "soldier" face.

Everything people, everything!

We were making our way back up to the front of the zoo when we ran into the guy from First Aid.  This time he gave us a free train ride.
It was about this time I noticed Cameron's cheek was swollen, along with his nose, and his mouth seemed out of alignment.  He looked miserable.  He wouldn't eat, drink, or even talk.  I decided to make a doctor's appointment.  Of course by the time we get to his appointment, several hours later, he was much better.  She checked him out and all was okay.  She was concerned about his nose but said it looked better inside than she thought it would.  It was a nasty fall and I have the pictures to prove it.

The first two were right after it happened.

Then you can see it gets worse as the day goes on.

This was the one that concerned me.  He looks pitiful!

Thankfully he is okay, just a fight with the concrete and the concrete won.

Miss Nelson has a Field Day

Several week ago Steve made mention of some children's book he remembered reading.  They are the Miss Nelson books; Miss Nelson is Missing, Miss Nelson has a Field Day, and Miss Nelson is Back.  I found them at the library and we have been reading them to the boys.  They find them hilarious.  They are about a sweet teacher named Miss Nelson who uses a disguise and dresses up as a mean substitute, Viola Swamp, in order to get her kids to behave.  A couple of weeks after getting the books at he library I happened to be looking through The Leader and found out that Derby Dinner was putting on Miss Nelson has a Field Day.  There were only two dates available for us to go and only 3 tables left out of those two dates.  I jumped on it.  We took Cooper when he was 2 1/2 to see Blues Clues and he also got to last year with Wee Ones.  This would be Cameron's first trip.

Imagine my surprise when Cameron wasn't afraid of Bravo the Star.  He won't get near Minnie Mouse but a star is perfectly acceptable.

We went to the breakfast show this morning.  Getting out of the house by 8:30 is so much easier when you don't have to worry about eating.

The show was super cute.  Derby Dinner always does a fabulous job.  I don't think I've ever seen a bad show there.  Their kids performances are only an hour so it's never so long it loses their attention.
Although, after breakfast we did have about 30 minutes to spare, the perfect amount of time for the kids to get a little goofy.

We went ahead and purchased tickets in the Spring to see The Jungle Book.  My kids are going to rock that one out!  It's more fun when you know all the songs.  A hint: if you ever go to Derby Dinner, ask for tickets on the last week of performances.  They do not have season ticket holders that week so you get better seats.  We couldn't go the last week for Miss Nelson but we got the last week for The Jungle Book.  Much better seats.
Another fun outing with my family.  Steve & I agreed this might be the best staycation we've had..
