Peeps Halloween Party

This morning was our annual Peeps Halloween party at church. Each year it keeps getting better and better. Our early childhood director, Jennifer, does a great job! I had to run to Target before the party so I was the mom pushing around two pirates at 10:30 am on a Wednesday morning.
First up was a photo opportunity with the scarecrow. These are from my camera, Angie, one of Jennifer's helpers took better ones. They were for an activity later.

While we waited for everyone to arrive the kids got to do some pumpkin painting. Give my kid an hour and he would have had every single pumpkin painted from top to bottom.

She also had some face painting. Cooper got a pirate mustache and beard.

Once all the kids arrived we did trick or treating around the staff offices. I made sure to get a picture of the big man, our senior minister Dave Hasting. He rocks!

It didn't take long to break into the candy. I don't think I would ever given Cooper a chocolate bar at 13 months, obviously things have changed in the past 4 years.

We had a fun lunch of lightening bolt chicken nuggets and pumpkin shaped Jello jigglers before moving on to more fun int the gym. Isn't he the most adorable pirate ever?

Next up was the pumpkin shaped pinata. I was so proud of Cooper today. He was sitting behind most of the other kids so I knew he would be last to go. Jennifer let everyone take two swings. It came down to the the little girl before him, she takes a swing and bam.... candy and prizes go everywhere! He looks at me with the saddest face and says, "I wanna do it". I was prepared for a meltdown! Jennifer looked at me and mouthed I'm sorry. I felt so terrible for him. He handled it well which is why I was so proud. I know how it feels to be the shy kid who sits back and sometimes misses out on things. I'll have to man up and by a pinata for some random reason.

He wanted me to take our pictures with these glasses on, he remembered doing 2 years ago. Crazy memory this kid.

Jennifer hung the top half of the pinata back up for him and let him take a few swings.

Finally they all got a card with their picture from earlier inside and they got to decorate a ghost on the outside. Our best Halloween party yet. I am already sad that next year Cooper will be in the preschool on Wednesday's and we will most likely miss out. There are quite a few kids that are the same age/grade level as Cooper so she already said if too many have to drop out due to preschool she will change the day of the week. I sure hope so!

Love the costumes!! It's cute to see Cameron walking, he's usually in his stroller ;) Have you been dipping into all the good candy? :)

Gretchen- you have no idea how nice it was not to have to worry about the stroller. He doesn't really like to be held while we are out and isn't the best walker yet either. It was nice to be in an envrionment for once where I didn't really have to worry about it and I could just let him roam.
