Holiday World

I was talking to Sharon earlier this week and she mentioned she was taking Allie to Holiday World on Thursday. Her mother in law would be watching Wyatt (he's only three months) and if she had to go by herself she was taking Allie. She said she had an extra free child's ticket but hadn't asked me about it because she didn't think I could get a sitter for Cameron, he won't stay with anyone that length of time and I wasn't going to attempt Holiday World with both kids by myself. That night at dinner I had the following conversation with Steve:

Me- Think you can take off work Thursday
Steve-Why?
M-Sharon is taking Allie to Holiday World and has a free ticket. I thought you could stay home with Cameron and I could take Cooper
S-That sounds fun, I'll see what I can do.

I was shocked!!! Steve doesn't like to give short notice at work. He is an occupational therapist and can't just take off, they have to find coverage for him. He texted me the next morning and said it wasn't looking good. I got a text around 3:00 pm that said-You are going to Holiday World!!! I was so excited. I haven't been in about 5 years and I knew Cooper would love it.
We met Sharon at her house, dropped off Wyatt at her MIL's which is only about 35 minutes from HW, and arrived right as they were opening. I was pumped!!! We even saw Pat Koch as we were in line. I wonder if it feels weird to be standing out there and hearing your own voice over the intercom. My mom was there on Wednesday and saw her too. I think it's awesome when you see the owners working at their own establishment, shows a lot about their work ethic.

After bathroom breaks and sunscreen application, we started off in the Christmas section, it has the majority of the kiddie rides. We had Cooper and Allie face one another on the rockets, thought they could shoot each other.

We got to ride Santa's sleigh with them.

While we were on the sleigh ride I heard the best noise ever! The clickty clack of The Raven. Maybe in a few years I will be on that again.

Is this not the cutest thing ever? Maybe in can be in their slide show one day, ha ha!! As long as they don't move out by you Sharon, I'm okay. Sharon and Jesse are building a house out by his parents. It's the sticks, but oh so beautiful.

I am surprised they don't have a wall up here so kids can't play with the water while waiting in line.

Cooper was not a fan of the bumper boats. Doesn't really surprise me though. I never liked them either, I was also afraid I would get stuck out there and not be able to get out.

After Christmas section we headed to lunch. We were all starving. We knew we wanted to do Splashin Safari so we quickly walked through the park only stopping to do a few things. We took our chances on the Spider (have no idea what Holiday World calls it). Cooper LOVED it. Allie was a little unsure. I will never forget his giggles on that ride.

I love this picture cause you can really see how little the kids looked. That little head is Allie.

Cooper waiting patiently for the other people to get on the ride.

I got kind of lazy with my camera after this. I was either on the rides with him or we were in the water park. In addition to the spider we did the kiddie roller coaster, tilt-a-whirl, and scrambler. He laughed at it all!

I think this may have been the scrambler. He loved it too. We rode right as we were leaving and Sharon took Allie back to the kiddie rides. I think Cooper enjoyed the bigger rides much more. I forget sometimes he is a year older than she is. She talked and walked so early she seems older. I think she will be ready next year for all the "fast" rides as Cooper called them.

I have a funny story from Splashin Safari. Neither kid really likes water in their face so we didn't do any slides, just the kiddie pool, wave pool, and lazy river. Cooper was too small to get his own inner tube so I he sat with me on the lazy river. I was laying it in, with by bottom through the whole, and he was sitting on my lap. I heard Sharon holler for me and looked up and we were heading right toward a tunnel of water. I tried to get away but it was too late. I told Cooper to close his eyes and I covered his head and he were drenched. It was like a shower. He handled much better than I thought.

After swimming he grabbed a quick snack, rode a ride or two and headed home. I couldn't believe it was after 5 when we left. Steve said he might not have volunteered if he had known I would have gotten home at 7. I don't really know what he expected.

It was a great day and I'm glad I got to spend some one on one time with my big guy. Although I sure did miss my little one like crazy. And thanks to Sharon for inviting us, it was awesome to spend the day together.

Awesome for you Steve was able to stay home! Holiday World (or Santa Claus land by in my day) was really the ONLY place we'd go as a family. I used to LOVE going there! Glad you & your big man had a good time!
