Go IU! Fight, Fight, Fight!

This past Saturday my brother-in-law and Steve let me tag along with them to the IU game.  I had one request- it needed to be a 3:30 game so we could have more time to tailgate.  There is only so much you can do when the game is at noon and you live an hour and a half away.  We left just before 8 and I had visions of laying down in the backseat of Scott's car and taking myself a nice little nap.  I forgot how much stuff he brings up there with him.  Half the backseat was already taken.

They are pros at tailgating now and had shop set up in no time.  I also had myself set up in no time. It took me half the day to realize I could turn my blanket around to the red side instead of Curious George.

We obviously had time to spare so we went on a nice walk through a part of campus to some shops.  I wasn't completely lazy, I got about 4 miles of walking in for the day.
Nothing could be more beautiful than Central Indiana in the fall.

We came up to a fountain and Scott suggested I act like I'm getting senior pictures taken.  You don't have tempt me twice to act silly.

We got back to where we were set up, Scott grilled out for us and it was time to make our way into the stadium.  The weather was great, but it was cloudy and windy making it very cold.  I paid $16 for gloves when I could have gotten some at Target for $5.  But I was cold and they are cute.

By the second half I was bundled up with my blanket and hot chocolate.

Now let's talk about the game.  Oh it was heartbreaking.  IU was down by halftime, so much so that many fans left.  They fought their way back and by the 4th quarter it was a game again.  There is about 20 seconds on the clock and we are down by 3 on the 8 yard line.  They throw what appears to be an incomplete pass which at first seems like no big deal.  It's 2nd down so we have another try and we can also kick a field goal for overtime.  Except, the receiver was slightly behind the quarterback making it backwards pass.  When you drop a backwards pass it's not incomplete, it's a fumble.  It was a live ball, Minnesota grabbed the ball off the field and ran and ran the time off the clock.  I've never seen a game end like that.  So sad.

My in-laws have had season tickets in their family for at least 20 years.  Year after year they make the trip up to Bloomington 6-8 times a season hoping for something different.  With the exception of 2007, it's the same each year, a losing record.  But they keep going and they keep hoping, and one day they will get to watch a good season.  It just doesn't look like this year is it.

Despite the loss I had a great day with my guy.  Couldn't ask for anything better.
