Uncle Scott

I know I've said it many times, but really, every kid needs an uncle like Uncle Scott. Their relationship is just something else. Steve and I are taking a parenting class at church and although they offer childcare his parents are coming over to watch the kids once a week. Last night his dad had a meeting so Scott came with his mom. We got home right before bed and Cooper wanted Scott to read him his devotional, it was cute!!! At our class we have round table discussions with ice breaker type of questions. One of them was "what is your favorite memory with your kids". I talked about the day we brought Cameron home from the hospital but I wanted to share another with you guys, since it involves Uncle Scott.

Last year when my sister passed away there was a weekend when I spent a lot of time at the hospital. We knew what the outcome was going to be but it was also important that I be there as much as I could. This was also the time when Cameron was really struggling with reflux and ear issues and spent more time of his days fussy than being happy. I got the initial call in the middle of the night on a Friday, left for the hospital and got back just after lunch on Saturday. Steve was struggling with the kids that morning, his parents were sick, and my mom was obviously at the hospital so we were stuck without any help. Scott offered to come over that evening so Steve and I could both go back to the hospital, we would just need to take Cameron with us. He was only 4 months old so it wasn't a big deal to have him there. This would be the first time Scott did any kind of baby sitting. We got back home that evening and I was just physically and emotionally exhausted. I had been up since 3:30 that morning, emotions and stress were just at all time high. We walked in the door and the first thing I see is Cooper and Scott with a receiving blanket tucked into the back of their shirts, wearing it like a cape, and pretending to fly around the room. It's something that took away all stress in that moment. I can still see that vision in my head and I hope it never leaves. To top it off, Cooper wasn't 100% potty trained yet, he had pooped in his pants that night. What a way to break in a baby sitter.

Didn't really mean to make this post so long but I have one more thing. They are doing a communication theme at school and encouraging parents and family members to write and mail letters in to the school. Cooper got his letter from Scott today. This his letter:

Good morning buddy. I want to see if you can guess who I am.
*You like to ride in my car in your car seat
*We listen to Party Rock when you ride with me
*When you come over to my house you're allowed to jump on my bed
*When we get together you like to jump on me

Who am I?
Uncle Scott is the answer!
I just wanted to say hi and hope your having a good day at school. I love you Buddy!

My boys sure are blessed!

A hodge podge

We have been up to a whole bunch of nothing these past two days. I decided to skip Peeps on Wednesday to just hang out at home. I just wasn't in the mood to chase Cameron down the hall of the mall as he runs out of the playground area. Cameron found Cooper's swim shoes that morning and decided to wear them around the house. He has a current fascination with wanting to wear shoes all the time.

I tried to get a picture of him trying to carry these two ramps around grunting the whole time. Notice the random thermal tote in the background, just another random item that he picked up carried around, and left in another random place. This is my poor pitiful child as he gets ready for a nap. He needs both pacifiers (one for his mouth and another to hold), blanket, and puppy dog.

Cooper worked on some puzzles. He is getting awesome! I think it's time to graduate to 48 piece ones.

We played cars. Our foyer is the perfect place for serious car action.

During Cameron's nap I broke out the paints. This is one of Cooper's favorite activities and we don't get near enough time to do this.

I found this activity on pinterest, making The Very Hungry Caterpillar by using hand prints. I mean, how stinkin' cute is this?

Cooper had school this morning and Cameron had a play date with a little girl from church. I had forgotten how easy play dates are when the kids are under 18 months. While he was napping today, Cooper and I worked on Valentine's. We have to bring Valentine's to school and Peeps next week. I am still working on the school ones so today we did the ones for Peeps. We are just doing your standard store bought ones with M&M's. Of course we didn't get far before the M&M's found their way to Cooper's mouth. Who am I kidding? They made their way to mine too :)

He was struggling writing his name today. Don't know if the pen or the small space to write it. Jill, can you come over and work with him? You're a leftie too, right? I'm only half kidding, I may really call you when it's time to tie his shoes. Now that I think about it maybe Tim Tebow will help us out, he's a leftie.

Did you know Chiller's opened today? We joked around when we moved here that we would need to build in a Chiller's budget since we are so much closer. Steve was generous enough to share his milkshake with Cameron, although I'm pretty sure Cameron drank more than Steve.

I sat down at the table and Cooper wanted mine and his his, just like last summer. He wanted to "share" mine. He uses the word share and knows just how to get me.

We have no plans tomorrow either, wonder what we will cook up.

I've been "hair" inspired

Gretchen has inspired me to grow out my hair. I don't know if I can make the whole year, it's already getting on my nerves, but I'm going to give it my best shot. This was totally accidental. After both my pregnancies I had horrible hair for about a year. I tried to change things up and get layers last Spring and it made it even worse. The only way to fix it was to grow the layers out. Sometime this past fall it grew out long enough and I actually started to enjoy my hair again. I have had one trim since September. So, just like Gretchen I am going to posting once a month. I have the first picture saved under January 9th, the second was taken this past Sunday. From now on I'm going to do it the first Sunday of every month, only because I can guarantee I will have my hair fixed.

I can't really tell a huge difference, maybe it the way I have it fixed but the first looks slightly longer, which can't be possible. To show a better difference, this was taken last Super Bowl. Oh my, look at my boys. And check this one out, this was right before I found out I was pregnant with Cameron. Wish me luck!

Super Food with Super Friends for a Super Bowl

Tracey and I were texting late last week and put together a last minute Super Bowl get together. We partied it up, let me tell ya! Nothing like getting together for a football game and leaving in the first quarter! Just kidding, Tra! Levi had school the next day so it was bed time for him. I've read that I made some good "homemade"brownies too. I only managed to get two pictures and they were both the chaos of trying to get the kids their dinner. Cameron was looking at his lasagna like it was the craziest thing ever. He has been fasting for a few days. He used to be my eat everything in front of me child, something is into him lately. So 4 out of the last 6 Super Bowls I have had a genuine interest in watching, this was one of them. I was on pins and needles the second half, it was just as if my bf Peyton was playing. One of these days I may be up for a real party again, until then I will be spending the rest of the game in pj's on my bed.
Thanks for coming over guys, we had a SUPER time!!

This I can handle

I love cold, snowy winters. Just as long as it's over by Christmas. Not a chance in theses parts. This week has been beyond awesome. Really, this whole winter has been nice. Yes, it's rained a lot, but the temperature has remained decent. I don't know about you other moms, keeping up with the kids is enough. Throw in their jackets and a diaper bag, a jacket for me is out the question. It has to be darn near 10 below for me to wear one.
We have gotten in quite a few wagon rides and big wheel rides this week. My dad got Cooper a big wheel for Christmas. I think it's just what he needed to help him gain the confidence for a big bike. I think having support for his back helps him feel secure. He has ridden the heck out of that thing the past two days.

I've managed a little mommy exercise with the wagon too.

Typical Cooper didn't want his picture taken until I put the camera away, then he wanted it. Silly, silly boy!
I took them outside today after lunch. We came back in an it was almost 2:00, and Cameron hadn't napped yet. Being outside makes the days go by so quick. Here's to an early, and long, Spring. Who cares what the groundhog says.

Ymmy Goodness

My mom stopped by one night this week with some yummy treats. She went to the Pie Kitchen and bought the boys an iced sugar cookies. Oh.my.goodness! These things are super yummy. Lucky for me, Cooper didn't want. It took two days for Steve, Cameron, and myself to nibble on it. Wonder why I'm blogging about this, it's just a cookie, right?Check it out! It was every where! If you look closely he has a cookie crumble by his temple. Good stuff, people, good stuff.

Valentine Prep

I am helping to coordinate Cooper's Valentine's Day party at school this year. Believe it or not, I am somehow managed to put myself into the main go-to person. For those that know me, this is a huge shock. Not that I am not a take charge type of person, I'm just not one to step on any one's toes. I have even turned down ideas cause I thought they were too much for 25 3 and 4 year old. I said no, that my friends is huge!

Micheal's was having a sale a couple of weeks ago on their foam crafts so I did some stocking up and I got some things of Oriental Trading. Cooper helped me prepare one of the crafts. We are going to have them decorate a foam heart with stickers and or glitter. I thought it would be more interesting to make it a magnet. I found these tiny magnet dots on Oriental Trading. They had bigger magnets but the reviews weren't all the great so I stuck with the smaller ones. Instead of having all the kids do this part themselves I thought it would be best to go ahead and stick them on there myself, they are small. Each heart got 4 magnets. Cooper was a big help. I found the next craft off of Oriental Trading as well. It is so hard to find Valentine ideas that are boyish. There is almost a 2 to 1 ratio of boys to girls in his class. I found the perfect craft. Decorate your own Valentine monster! It is super cute. Each kit comes with 4 different Monsters and a sheet of stickers for each one. You know how everything comes in packages of 12? Well they added a child in January to his class, he know has 25 kids. So of course I had to buy three, but that left us with monsters to play with.

Every girl needs her cell phone, even monsters!

I guess every 4 year old monster needs a cell phone too. And a giant eye ball on their ankle.

I am super excited for his party, it's going to be fun! Steve is even coming, he is leading Cupid Says. I tried to get him to dress up as cupid but that was a no-go. He took off work because he is going to the Pacers game that night. Yes, my husband is going to a basketball game on Valentine's Day. We aren't big Valentine people, but don't think I won't hang it over his head for a while. He's going with some buddies from work, two of which happen to have pregnant wives. They want to make a sign that says, "We left our pregnant wives at home on Valentine's Day to watch the Pacers beat the Heat". They just may make it on tv for that.
