18 Months

We had Cameron's 18 month appointment yesterday. This is so unlike me, I completely forgot to ever make him a 15 month appointment. I guess with your second child you act as if you have it all figured out. He weighs 22 lbs and 14 oz and is 31 1/4 inches. That makes him 3 oz heavier and a 1/4 inch longer than Cooper at this age.

Everything checked out great, nothing to really blog about, I just wanted to make sure I recorded his weight and height.

The best Saturday

This may go down as the best Saturday ever. It started out like this.
Steve also got come cuddle time as Cooper and I played Kinect.
I don't even really remember what we did during the day, I guess we just played because it went by super fast. Then came the night I had been waiting for. Gretchen was in town and Brittany was with her! They had a conference through their church on Friday night and Saturday, they decided to stay an extra night and Tracey and I got to meet them for dinner. We went to The Melting Pot. I love that place. I don't go there often but it is so nice when I do. We had almost two solid hours of chatting and eating good food. I wish I had more pictures of the night but we were having so much I forgot to get the camera out.
Funny story, all night I kept thinking our server looked familiar. He couldn't have been more than 22 years old. Finally I got up the nerve to ask him if anyone had ever told him he looked like someone famous. He said, "well some people have told me I look like that one guy, not Edward, the other one". OH.MY.WORD!!!! He is Jacob!!!! He has lighter skin but I swear he could be Jacob's twin. Of course I did what any reasonable 32 year old would, I got my picture taken with him. It's dark so you can't really tell, trust me though, he looked like Jacob.
After dinner we were about to pull out the parking lot when Tracey suggested we go to Pier One, it was across the street so why not. I think this is when the real trouble began. You have 4 30 something moms in a home/design store without kids. We were a little giddy.
Tracey and Brittany decided to re-inact those old photos, you know the ones with forks. Can you believe these things were $60?
How cute are these things? Ladybug measuring spoons people!
Now for the highlight of the trip, kitchen canisters. I have been thinking about painting my kitchen. I realize we just moved but the builders used flat paint and our kitchen walls are already messed up with finger prints. Our kitchen is also almost the exact same color as our old kitchen, I just want something new. I've been thinking about blue. Tracey wants to do her kitchen yellow and she found these adorable canisters. We both bought them. She totally found them, I would never have seen these if I wouldn't have back there when she took a second look. I am so excited to get started. Had I not bought these I probably would have just "talked" about painting. Now I have a reason. I can't wait to see what we both come up with. Aren't they adorable?
We ended the night back at Tracey's. Normally I would have tried to make it until midnight but 11 o'clock was midnight so I had to cut the night short. It was a much needed girl's night out and Brittany is super sweet. I am so happy Gretchen has found such nice people. I mean, who wouldn't love Gretchen?
These next two pics aren't from Saturday, they are just cute. Steve and Cooper were playing Kinect and we hung out watching.
He got down off the bed and started going through our night stand. He found a book, I guess he wanted do a little light reading.

It's game time

A favorite game of mine growing up was Guess Who. The funny thing is, I didn't even have this game. This game is perfect for Cooper. He is still learning what types of questions to ask but he totally gets is. He is great when I ask him a question at looking at his person, or pet, and giving me the correct answer. At the end of the game I have to have spell his character or the character he is guessing. I knew he would love it.The same day we bought Guess Who we also bought a Kinect. It was our gift to us with our tax return. I haven't had a chance to play it yet, Cameron gets in the way and throws off the sensor so Steve and Cooper have been playing in our bedroom. We bought Disneyland Adventure to go with it, once Cooper got the hang of it he loved it.
Any recommendations for a good workout game? The Kinect won out over a treadmill so I need something.
Other news in house this week, just as we all finished up with antibiotics, Cameron started with a cough and runny nose. Around lunch time on Monday he got a fever up to 103. I took him to the doctor, he has RSV. For the most part it's been pretty mild. No breathing treatments and has only had two bad coughing spells. We were in Rite Aid on Tuesday and he was crying about something, started coughing and I thought for sure he would vomit. His face was bright red, the store manager even came over to ask if I needed some water. He's been feeling much better today, him and Cooper got a little too worked up he started coughing again, but for the most part we are on the mend. My kids rarely get sick, yet when they do it's the real stuff.

I've got nothing

I'm sitting here trying to think of what to write, maybe talk about our weekend, and I really have nothing. It all seems so insignificant.

I have always taken storm warnings seriously. I get it from my grandma, she had one of those weather radios when I was growing up. When I woke up Friday and found out they upgraded our area from a moderate risk to a severe risk, I had a bad feeling. I went into full survival mode. Our basement has windows, but we do have a walk in closet that I keep toys in. I cleaned out some toys and laid down pillows and blankets. I packed a bag of extra clothes, pj's, and shoes. I had some water and snacks packed, our laptop charged and ready, financial stuff in my purse. I know it may have seemed crazy but I wasn't taking chances. I would have packed more but Steve was at work and I didn't want to scare the kids. Once I put Cameron down for a nap I had Cooper help me take more things downstairs, he wanted to get Sky and Marty which are his animals he sleeps with. They were already in my hand before he mentioned them. I turned on the tv and tried to play a game of Candyland with him. I felt terrible, I was trying to focus on him but I just couldn't turn my attention away from the tv. When I saw it was approaching Borden and our sirens were going off and they were urging people in Clark County to get in the basement or bathrooms I decided it was time to head down. I grabbed Cameron and our radio and set up shelter. It wasn't long before the weather reports started coming in. I was texting Gretchen, Tracey, and Jaime, checking in on everyone. We had a short break so I opened up the closet doors to give the kids time to play then the second storm hit. We went back in and at first I thought we weren't getting much until I opened the door. The wind and rain was awful. We finally got the all clear, Steve made his way home, then I went upstairs to watch the news. I had heard about Henryville and Marysville but never could I imagine the destruction that took place. We see images like this every couple of years, recently in Alabama and Missouri. It hits home when it is our backyard and we see people we know on the news. Or children we know loosing their school. Just as our parents talk of the 1974 tornadoes, we will always remember the 2012 tornadoes.

It seems as if every time I turn on the news it gets worse yet I can't stop watching. I want to get out there and do something. Cooper is praying for homes that got destroyed and Levi's school. I would pray that God gives those who lost homes and loved ones peace but that isn't what we should pray for. God will give peace it's up to those to accept the peace. So that's my prayer, I pray that these people can accept God's peace and comfort.

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13

Hair pics and oh so cute pics

It's time for my monthly hair shot. I almost forgot to take it today. I feel like I've hit a road bump and it's not growing. I am going to need a least a trim or thinned out this month. So April's probably wont show anything.

March

These next two pics are random but the cutest things every. Cameron's loot has grown before nap time and bedtime. He now needs both pacifiers, a stuffed dog, a pillow pet, and his blankie. I could just eat him up.

This is tonight. Cameron cuddled on the couch with me night and finally zonked out. Of course I had the most adorable photo bomber with me too.

What we've been up to

One more day! One more day! I have been doing my best at trying to think of creative fun things to do while we are at home this week. Bless our Lord we have had beautiful weather. We have spent a lot of time outdoors. Cameron has had a seasonal runny nose all winter, even when it's been nice we haven't been able to be outdoors much or it made it worse. These antibiotics are helping that out, I try to find the silver lining in everything.

On Tuesday I made some cloud dough. I found the recipe for it over on grass stains. I had to half the recipe, it still worked, and smelled delicious. I didn't get any pics of us playing, it is very messy! We've also ran a few errands here and there. I've had jewelry and diet cokes to deliver. We also went to Wendy's one night, gasp! I feel as long as he isn't in direct contact with any kids it should be okay. The Wendy's on Charlestown Rd and Blackston Mill has a new Coke machine. Steve ate there when he worked on Saturday. It's one machine with like 86 different drink choice. You push your button; Coke, Diet Coke, Root Beer, whatever you want, then you get like 5 more choices; cherry, lime, raspberry. It's crazy!!!! Steve was so enamored with it he had to go back. That's all I heard about Saturday night was this Coke machine.

Scott got Steve a wireless bluray player for his birthday. You can hook it up to wifi and watch youtube videos. The boys had a ball dancing to the Jake the Neverland Pirate band. Cooper loves the Spanish version. Don't ask me why.

See that dirt pile back there? That is from where they dug for the basement next to us.

I let the kids play in it.

We were really hoping for a good snow so we could sled down it this year. Don't think it's going to happen.

A mean game of Elefun took place yesterday.

I like how the 18 month old is double fisted with the nets.

I took them to McDonald's this morning for breakfast. I was hoping to catch a good surprise face from them when I said where we were going, this is all I got.

I'm the mom who doesn't comb their kids hair before leaving.

This kid can hammer down some hot cakes. See that snake? It goes everywhere with us. Of all things to be attached to is a snake.

We played outside a lot today. I took them on a wagon ride for at least a mile. After lunch we played baseball and Cooper rode his big wheel. I thought for sure he would nap, no such luck. So Toy Story 2 is on and I am making my grocery list and meal plans for the next two weeks. I have been planning our meals two weeks at a time. It's saving us a lot of time and money, at least I think it.

One more day of antibiotics and we are all clear. We have a surprise trip to Outside In planned for Saturday. We haven't been a in a couple months, it should make for one happy little boy. Come Monday it's back to our routine. It has been good to have a "free" week. Had we had nasty weather I don't think I could have made it. Can you imagine if kids were out of school January and February instead of June and July?

Call the CDC, we've been quarantined

After feeling great all weekend I decided to take the kids to the mall this morning to play and get some energy out. We weren't there 15 minutes when I got a message from Dr. Howell asking to giver her a call back as soon as possible. As she put it, it's the call you don't want to get, "Cooper has whooping cough". I was totally surprised. He's been great all weekend, but she said he does in fact have it in his system and is contagious. She called in prescriptions of Zithromax for the whole family and it was off to Target to stock our in-home pharmacy. Imagine this; I'm in Target and I have about 25 minutes to spare until our medicine is ready knowing I can't leave our house for 5 days. I somehow managed to get out of there only spending $40. I told Cooper he could pick out something and he got these butterfly nets from the dollar spot. We had already paid and were walking out when he says something about catching something. Just as I am about to walk out the door I look up to see a pair of bunny ears in the his net. Already trying to shop lift at the age of 4.

I'm trying to make the best out of all this, he isn't really sick and most likey wont get sick, we are just stuck all week. I just got gas so that should last me over two weeks now. I don't have to leave my pj's or do laundry all week. Target has a new pharmacy rewards program, once you fill 5 sciprts you get 5% off an in-store purchase. We filled 4 just today. What I do feel bad about is possibly infecting another child at church yesterday. Steve's parents also had to get the antibiotic. Steve'd dad was diagonised with possibly having multiple myeloma about a year and a half ago. Since then his numbers have gotten better, it's just very important he doesn't get sick. So as a precaution they were both put on it. This is the only the second time in more than probably 10 years I have been on an antibiotic and I'm not even sick!

A big thank you to Amy G. Amy's daughter goes to school with Cooper. Their fundraiser is due tomorrow, I was scheduled to bring in snacks tomorrow, and I needed to bring in some earrings to a girl who ordered from me. Amy stopped by today and is taking all that in for me. Thank you!!!!
