Easter 2012

We were in it to win it this morning. We needed to be out of the house by 8:30. I had everything ready to go for us this morning, first up were chocolate donuts. Which might seem crazy since both kids were messy!!!We don't really do the Easter bunny. We get the kids gifts, but they are from us, not the Easter bunny. Which is going to make for some interesting conversations about Santa and the Easter bunny, why one and not the other.
Instead of baskets I got personalized cinch sacks for them. They sat on the couch all morning, it wasn't until we were all ready for church did Cooper notice them.
He took no time to dig through and get all their goodies.
Don't tell anyone, but these were gone by dinner time :)We had beautiful church service this morning, I just love the excitement of Easter morning. Guess who didn't cry in the nursery? This little guy!!!! The regular nursery worker is back from maternity leave and I think he likes her, a lot! She held out her arms and he went to her. Makes this momma happy.
We had lunch with Steve's parents at their house. We tried our best to get a family picture, at least three of us are looking. Oh, and this is my "princess" dress, according to Cooper. The boys got more goodies before lunch.I tried at a self portrait with Cooper, he gave me this. Which I then threatened with no treats, so I got...this one.
Then he wanted the camera, again I was nervous he would drop it and break. You can't really tell, but Steve is changing Cameron's diaper. Cooper insisted. After a yummy lunch, I take ham and Easter dinner over turkey and Thanksgiving any day, we had some chocolate pie and ice cream cake. Word is still out on if this shirt is ruined our not. He was covered. Finally, it was time to hunt eggs. I couldn't narrow them down, so you get all the pictures.I was a little late in getting the camera ready, they were giving each other hugs. Such sweet, sweet brothers.
This has really been such a fantastic day.
Christ has risen..... he has risen indeed!

Easter Prep

Earlier in the week Cooper and I made resurrection rolls. This is something I have been wanting to do with him for a while but didn't feel like he would really understand. I wasn't so sure this year either, but when Steve got home Cooper told him all about it and right on. He was excited, I think because he knew it meant a special treat and he hadn't eaten much all week and wanted something good.I had all our ingredients ready to go. If you haven't made them, it's super easy. Roll a marshmallow in melted butter and cinnamon/sugar mix, then roll that up inside a crescent roll. Make sure you roll it up without any holes. Bake as directed on the package.

They come out like this,
then you open them up and it's empty, just like Jesus's tomb.Yummy, yummy, yummy! I really wouldn't know, I think I had a bite and Steve ate the rest after work.Saturday night we finally got around to coloring eggs.
3 of us colored eggs, Cameron ate goldfish.Cooper wanted to take some picture, wish this one had turned out better. He didn't have much to work with, with the blinds open. It makes me so nervous when he has the camera. I broke two cameras in less than two years. He also took this one.I never took a picture of the finished eggs, and since I boiled them on Wednesday and didn't color until Saturday, they need to be thrown away. After bath time we decorated with some stickers, and Cameron ate again.Such fun, fun times!

Dinner with Friends and Shopping

I am going to have to refer you to Gretchen's blog, specifically here and here. I never got my camera out either time and well, Gretchen's story telling is much better than mine.

Friday night we went out to dinner and back to Tracey and Eric's house for Paul's birthday. Gretchen's kids are on Spring Break so she in the land of paradise for almost a full week. It had been forever since Steve and I got together with this group. Lots of fun!!

The fun continued on Saturday, I went shopping! Remember the time I had to cancel my little trip to Bowling Green? Well ever since I have been saving up so I could do some shopping. Tracey and Gretchen were so sweet to come with. The sales lady in Gap even picked up on the fact they were my moral support, maybe because it was my second trip in there. I would never buy orange flip flops on my own.

Be sure to check out G's blog, especially from Friday. There are some awesome pics!!!!

Wee One's Easter Party

Cooper had his school Easter Party this morning. I was concerned we wouldn't make it, he has had a nasty little stomach bug since Sunday. We cancelled pretty much everything else this week, including school on Tuesday. He was incident free on Wednesday so I felt confident he would be okay, plus I would be there to recognize the signs that he wasn't feeling well.

I was in charge of bringing some hard boiled eggs and I wanted to also make a snack for the kids to take home. I found a recipe for "bunny bait" on Pinterest. I think I made too big of a batch so the piece didn't stick together like I thought they would, still quite delicious. You take pretzel sticks, popcorn, and M&M's, and mix it all together.

Lay it out on a pan and top with sprinkles. I think it was supposed to stick together, mine didn't. I had to make enough for 25 kids, I just don't think I had enough chocolate.
I was scared this morning that he wouldn't want to go. I think he has been scared to leave the house. Without going into details, we had to use pull ups for two days. Lots and lots of involuntary accidents. Today he was all smiles and ready to go. It probably helped that Scott came with us. I asked him a while back and he remembered and took the morning off to go.They started off with an egg hunt. We had to stay inside since it was raining at the time. He got more than one egg this time too :)
He was all about opening the egg to see what was in it before putting it in his basket.
His first craft was an Easter Egg coloring sheet. We didn't get to keep this, it goes in our Memory Box which we will get at the end of the school year next year.

Then came the Easter Bunny. I was originally going to do this, the costume is made for shorter people. They had to find a replacement when I didn't know if we would make it, probably a good thing. Cooper got scared at first, for like 2 seconds though, and then everything was fine.Scott helped him with his bookmark craft. He loved having him there.Next up coloring eggs. No surprise, he wanted a blue egg, his favorite color.Just being silly!
Snack was cereal, he gobbled it down. I guess after not eating for two days the little guy was hungry.
The party was a huge success! Amy G helped organize it, this is her second child in Wee One's, she is an old pro by now.
I am so thankful he was feeling good enough to go. I have been praying for the past couple days, he was just so miserable. I think it did us all good to get out of the house for a bit too. I can't believe we have just over a month left of school. It has went by so incredibly fast. This time next year we will be registering for kindergarten. It's hard to believe.
