Birthdays and Mother's Day

Friday night we got word that Booster Day, which included a parade and ball game, had been postponed due to wet fields.  This cleared up our day until 2:00 where we attended the first of two birthday parties.

 

First up was our neighbor Keanen from down the street.  We met Keanen and his family when we first moved in, our first year here we got together quite often.  This year has been crazy for us so we haven't seen them in a long time.  Keanen's mom was kind enough to still invite us to his party, we almost didn't make it, but thanks to rain we were able.  The theme was Angry Birds and the kids played their own live version.  Fun!  Cooper won a kite for knocking the most down.

 

 Keanen's mom is awesome.  Besides the cake that the adults ate, the kids decorated their own miniature cake and cupcakes.  Cooper was in heaven with his chocolate creation.

How's this for a small world.  Keanen's mom has a brother that lives in Bowling Green.  Him and his wife and kids go to the same church as Gretchen and used to have Hope in their Sunday school class.   Crazy, small world we have.

 

Next up at 4:00 was Levi & Maggie's birthday party at SIGS.  This little one would play for a while, come love on me, then play some more.

I'm so thankful to be apart of both celebrations.  And if you are wondering, Cooper got got cake back to back at both parties.

 

Sunday was of course was Mother's Day.  My sweet, sweet boys! 

 

We were reading to the boys before Cameron's nap, Steve looked down and Cameron was out.  That hasn't happened in a long time!  Must have been one tired little guy.

 

We met Steve's parents and brother out for dinner at Cracker Barrel.  Cameron wore his glasses for almost the entire dinner.

 

 

Everyone, plus my mom, met back up at our house for ice cream cake.  This is what you get when you live with Steve Lee.

 

I never try to make a big deal out of Mother's Day, at least for myself.  God gave me the precious gift of motherhood, there isn't really much that can top that.  There are so many women out there who either can't be a mom, are missing their mom, or have lost a child.  I can't imagine what this day would be like in that situation.  Then I found this on Facebook that my brother-in-law Jason posted.  It's my niece and nephew at my sister's grave.  There really isn't anything on Earth that can replace your mom, especially for a small child.  I just pray they know how much they were loved.
